5 Tips on How to not just “Deal with it”: Where I’ve been

Let me break it down for you: My mental health has been declining since August, the weight of paying for college has been placed entirely on my shoulders, I left my old job in search for a new one, been under the weight of many different stressors placed almost entirely by my parents to the point that I hated coming home, developed an eating disorder, and all coming to a climax when I got into a serious car crash that could have very well taken my life had anything gone any differently.

It’s been rough, I will admit, but I don’t mean for this to be in any way a vent. That’s not at all why I started blogging. Part of my mission statement, however, has been to be extremely honest, even beyond my comfort zone. I believe it is one of the most important—and hardest—things a writer can do.

With that being said, I had been straight up powering through it all like it didn’t exist, relying on pure delusion and hopes for a future without this stress to get me through day to day. But once everything crashed—no pun intended—down on me, I found myself unable to sleep properly, eat properly, and take care of myself properly. So, It’s been a long time coming, but here are 5 short tips on how I’m managing: and how you can too.

  1. Pick a hobby, stick with it

You need something to relax with, build up, and be able to see progress in. This will not only help relieve some of the stress, but help you feel accomplished when you’re feeling hopeless.

  1. Get the feelings out of you

Journaling, talking to someone, an aggressive sport, listening and singing to really angry/emotional music, all of these are ways to release your emotions so they aren’t building up inside of you, which is the main thing we are trying to avoid right now.

  1. Go shower

As gross as it is, it sometimes gets hard to remember when the last time you even showered was. But if it’s getting really bad and your deep inside of your head, you would be surprised how much it can help to reconnect with and take care of your body.

  1. See a therapist

It’s not possible for everyone, but if you are at all able to, you will be surprised at how much they can help. Therapy is becoming increasingly more available as the internet grows and changes.

  1. Go to sleep early

You need some rest. Get a long nights rest so you can keep fighting tomorrow. Safe travels to you all <3
