A guide to our little space
Romanticizing Realistically
Life is messy, but we can still enjoy it. We talk about the reality of living while also feeling like the main character in your favorite movie, which, in my humble opinion, is the ideal.
Weird Questions, Weird Answers?
One of our main purposes for writing a lifestyle blog is to show that being messy and weird can coincide with an aesthetic life. In this way, we try to ask and answer
Media Analyses
We take our favorite, critically acclaimed, and/or relevant pieces of media and dissect them while providing our opinions. Imagine a video essay but just…an essay.
Queer Teen-Run
Our age, gender, and sexuality never defined our dreams or passions, and we don’t think it should define yours. Even when we outgrow the “teen” title, we will continue to provide voices to young and queer writers just like us.
Why We Write
We write to share. Whether it’s our opinions, our experiences, or our knowledge, we want to share the happenings of our minds, even if they have no rhyme or reason.
Can You Write Too?
Absolutely! We want to work with aspiring writers to build The Chaos Archives into a community. For now, you can submit your work and social handles to be reviewed and published through the form in the “Become an affiliate” link at the bottom of every page, but soon we hope to be able to pay writers for their work. You all deserve to know your work has worth.
Meet our Team
A.J. McGilberry
(They/Them)
Somehow building this site without any knowledge of Wordpress, A.J., sometimes affectionately referred to as Apple Juice or Apple, is the founder of The Chaos Archives. As the definitely super successful “I graduated two years early as valedictorian” they are, they can often be found pretending to be mad at their guinea pigs or getting distracted while reading. They identify as agender and go by they/them pronouns. Their writing journey started from the humble beginnings of Quotev.com, but thankfully moved on to new opportunities such as full length novels, scriptwriting, and this blog.
Aubrey Gold
(They/Them)
An avid procrastinator with a mile long TBR list, Aubrey is a writer and Co-owner of The Chaos Archives. Although being made up of one part existential dread and one part people pleasing behavior, they are always deep into one philosophical discussion or another. They joined The Chaos Archives at 5pm on a random Saturday when A.J. texted them “do you wanna start a blog” out of the blue. (I don’t think they knew what they were getting dragged into but they’re here to stay)
Moments
“Are we lost?”
“Of Course Not! We’re Right here! It’s the path that’s lost.”
–Aunt Tillie, Sofia the First
It’s not a secret to those who know me that I absolutely love Sofia the First and am an adamant believer that the show is a lot deeper than most people realize. Duchess Matilda, or Aunt Tillie, is absolutely the embodiment of chaos. She is THAT crazy aunt you can’t help but love. This quote in particular is one of my favorites from her. I’m not sure if it originated elsewhere and was just inserted into the series, so if it is I apologize because google would not give me a clear answer. I find the concept of this so interesting when related to growth and your own personal journey. It’s kind of the perfect allegory on how everyone’s journey will look different. It’s never just walking one straight path forward, but metaphorically jumping over corn field walls with flying shoes and hitching rides on giants and having your apples stolen by Wombeasts. At least, according to Sofia.
